AUSTRALIA

G'day Matties! Now that we are here in Aussie Land, we have already shifted gears. We have slowed down to the point, I guess, that we haven't thought enough about getting ourselves into a Internet Cafe. Mainly we want to let family know that we are here and safe. We saw that one plane that disappeared over the Altantic with no communication, scarey! This internet spot doesn't allow me to download the photos from the camera I brought with me today, dang! We have spent 2 nights in Brisbane and this is our second in Noosa Heads. We are planning on driving our rental car to Airlie Beach near the Whitsundays tomorrow! We are planning this trip by feel, which has worked out really well so far. We spent today on the beach for about 5 hours between 3 different spots here at a National Park. Beautiful scenery. The weather today was tropical, we had mostly sunny skies but a little rain here and there and a handful of rainbows. When a storm would come through it would last for a few minutes and pass. We decided to just enjoy the rain and get wet without running for shelter, once the storm would pass we would dry off anyway. The water is about 73 degrees, which is perfect for us but the Aussie's think it is a little cold. We spent out day in Brisbane going to Lone Pine Sanctuary, which is basically a small zoo. We arrived at 2pm which is when the Koala's are fed. Koalas normally sleep about 23 out of 24 hours everyday so we got lucky and were able to actually pet one. We were also able to hang out with about 50 Kangaroos that we could fed and pet. It was really fun. When we left for the day it was dusk and the wild Cockatoos that surrounded the place started screaming real loud! There were dozens of wild Cockatoos flying around and screaming which was amazing to watch. Learning to drive on the wrong side of the road has been a real experience. There have been alot of laughs and now I think I have it down pretty well, definetly not an expert or anything. Nancy has yet to give it a shot, but she is getting her nerves ready for the experience. The day we landed we arrived at 7am local time and we picked our car up at the airport. Once we got to the car and found the correct side to sit on I had to take a few deep breaths and focus! About 5 minutes passed and I realized I had to just give it a shot! We still head for the wrong side of the car when getting in and crack up each time. That's all for now, this internet cafe is closing. All the best!

  1. Hey Guys, Welcome to my adoptive home! Too bad you can't make it over to Melbourne, it would be great to catch up! You'll love Arlie and the Whitsunday's (if you get out to them). Hamilton Island is a blast if you go there. Also try to get up to Port Douglas....simply beautiful! The trip has been awesome to watch and certainly inspriring....I need to plan something now!

Have fun, continue to travel safe and all the best!
